About Rumpke…

Take a tour with Rumpke Recycling!

Did you know that your plastic shopping bags are disruptive to the recycling process? Hmm...

The Cincinnati Rumpke Recycling facility is the largest residential recycling plant in North America, serving over 4.5 million people. Built in 2013, it is the third generation of Rumpke's recycling technology and is capable of processing a whopping 55 tons of materials per hour. This free event includes/requires:

  • A 1 hour walking tour of a totally updated plant to see how recyclable materials are sorted
  • Access to an expert who can answer your questions about the acceptability of materials and products for recycling
  • Stairs in order to access various points in the recycling process. An elevator will permit limited viewing from a platform
  • Safety equipment (hard hat, vest and eye wear) will be provided
  • Visitors must wear sturdy, closed toe, hard-soled shoes, dress for the weather and be at least 13 years old

Join the MVSPE for an overview of the Rumpke Recycling process. Learn more about what materials are currently acceptable as well as what can be accomplished with recyclables during extended plant down-times.
